Snowflakes Falling - This is the first set I made in this design. The lid-to-body fit has the every-so-slight sway, but the set is fully functional and it has been the model for all the Snowflakes Falling sets that followed. There is a slight discount in pricing due to the slight sway.

Nestled in your chair, blanketed by your favorite quilt, fire crackling as you feel the warmth radiating across the room. Lights low, there is a calm in the air, a glance to the window, and snowflakes begin their dance past the frosted glass.

The Snowflakes are ever so slightly not perfect.
The clay toasted in the kiln to a deep spice cookie red brown.
The rim and interior bowls of the gaiwan and cup give a nod to wintery starry nights .

This gaiwan set is designed to celebrate winter.
This gaiwan set is made to bring comfort and joy.
This gaiwan set reminds us of the sweet, restful, rejuvenating, and peaceful moments of winter… and tea.

Size is measured comfortably below where the lid fits into the gaiwan body and also the volume that is below the rim of each cup.

The gaiwan and cup are decorated with pigmented clay snowflakes then glazed on the exterior with clear glaze. The snowflakes are not a decal. Once fired in the kiln, they become part of the clay body of the pot, then are forever encased in 3 coats of glassy clear glaze.

Hand-thrown, hand-stamped, and hand-signed using a very fine-grained red clay produced in Canada.

I create in small batches. Each piece is thrown in the likeness of the next, hand-crafted, and with hand-brushed glazing. I hope you’ll agree variations in color, small marks from the minerals and stone in the clay, or slight sways in design resulting from working with natural materials create the charm expected and treasured in handmade pottery.

Food-safe materials. Hand wash only.
