Yarn Bowl for Your Wool - Huckleberry Wildflower Child
Please note: I refund any overage on shipping charges.
This bowl is a wildflower child, radiating positive vibes everywhere it goes and showing people how beautiful it is to be a free spirit advocating for love, peace, and simple, idealistic values. Pure joy, pure happiness, pure love!
Specially designed by a knitting, crocheting, hand-spinning potter to keep your venturing yarn balls in check while you ponder the simple pleasures in life.
Hand-thrown, hand-carved and hand-signed using durable and functional brown stoneware clay manufactured in Montana. Each bowl is hand-carved, smoothed, and hand-brushed with at least 6 coats of glazing, ensuring even the most delicate yarns and fibers will glide on the pot’s surface with no snagging.
Each yarn bowl is made with 4 lbs. of clay, formed with a solid biscuit of clay at the bottom to keep the bowl from moving or tipping as you work the fiber from the bowl. The shape of the bowl has come from over 7 years of design work and using the bowls to determine this shape allows for the ball of fiber to spin when pulling from the outer end of the ball or hold firm in the bowl if using a center pull without rolling up the side of the bowl or worse popping out of the bowl onto the ground or into your pups mouth or pounced on by your kitten. The open swoop allows for quick switch outs in the bowl when you have multiple projects going at once, cuz who doesn't have multiple projects going at once. Also, by using the swoop to feed the yarn to your project, the bowl can be turned to create just the perfect tension in the feed. The hand-carved openings are both decorative and allow for color work or storing the needles when parking a project aside.
I create in small batches. Each piece is thrown in the likeness of the next, hand-crafted, and with hand-brushed glazing. I hope you’ll agree variations in color, small marks from the minerals and stone in the clay, or slight sways in design resulting from working with natural materials create the charm expected and treasured in handmade pottery.
