Specially designed to celebrate our love for honeybees and all things wild and free, the design is the result of 5 years of testing to perfect the color match to the honey produced by our honeybees in our tiny apiary. We live at a sub-alpine level so our bees live a very wild and free life, foraging and keeping our hillsides blanketed in wildflowers.
This mug is an early version of the Mountain Flower Honey surface design. When the inspiration for the surface design hit, it was the middle of summer and the sunflowers in our garden had just bloomed. I could see them from the studio and so I ventured down the path to develop 2 glazes to emulate the colors of sunflowers. I made a number of these mugs and some fiber arts pots in this glaze combo with this surface design and then, as the creative spirit tends to do, my little artsy sprite of a spirit got me venturing down other options for surface glazes. I can't remember the years, but to this day, I still have people contact me for more pots in this sunflower glaze combination. This mug would be great for lattes, matcha, oats, soup, ice cream, cereal, you name it! I am letting this one go since I happen to have its sister in my kitchen cabinet which I read for whenever I need a bit of summer warmth to brighten my day.
Hand-thrown, hand-stamped, and hand-signed using sturdy and functional brown stoneware clay manufactured in Montana. Each mug is hand-brushed with at least 6 coats of glazing, ensuring a durable finish. These mugs are built to last, made to be used and bring a little smile to your day.
I create in small batches. Each piece is thrown in the likeness of the next, hand-crafted, and with hand-brushed glazing. I hope you’ll agree variations in color, small marks from the minerals and stone in the clay, or slight sways in design resulting from working with natural materials create the charm expected and treasured in handmade pottery.
Food-safe materials. Dishwasher and microwave safe, although I hand wash and shy away from microwaving my hot beverages.
